Choosing a trailer
- Which trailer types can I request?
- You can request any of these: dump trailer, flatbed trailer, enclosed trailer, utility trailer, equipment trailer, car hauler and gooseneck trailer. Each type has a page on what it is used for and what to confirm with the supplier.
- Who decides whether a trailer suits my job?
- You do, from the trailer the supplier offers. Check its dimensions, payload, loading access and hitch against your job before you choose.
Requests and bids
- Is this Neighbors Trailer?
- Yes. Trailer Bid is a Neighbors Trailer site. Every rental arranged here is a Neighbors Trailer booking.
- What does it cost to post a request?
- Nothing, and you do not need a card. Posting is not a booking and commits you to nothing.
- How long does bidding take?
- Bidding runs for 24 hours after your request goes live. Prices lock when it closes and you have time to decide after that. We will email you when bidding closes and again before the deadline.
- What if nobody bids?
- If nothing has come in by halfway, we widen the search to a larger radius. If the request still attracts no bids, we will tell you. Suppliers can bid above your budget, so no bids at all usually means thin supply near that site or dates that don’t suit. You can repost at any time.
- How is the price worked out?
- Each supplier sets the price they want to receive, and Neighbors Trailer adds its fees on top so you compare one complete number per supplier. The price you accept is final: it covers the rental, delivery and return, and Neighbors Trailer’s fees. Only tax (added at checkout where it applies) and a refundable deposit, listed separately because it comes back to you, sit outside it.
- Will suppliers call me?
Not unless you choose one. While suppliers are pricing they see the metro area and nothing else: no phone number, no email, no address. There is no way for anyone bidding to contact you.
Once you choose a supplier and their booking is confirmed, that one supplier gets your site contact so they can arrange the delivery. Nobody else does, at any point.
- When does the supplier get my jobsite address?
- Once a booking is confirmed, and only the supplier you chose. While suppliers are pricing, they see the metro area, not the address, the gate code, your phone number or your email.
Delivery and pickup
- Is delivery included in a Trailer Bid quote?
- Yes. Delivery to your site and collection at the end are priced in before you compare: inside one total on a rental of 30 days or less, and shown once beside the monthly rate on a longer one. There is no separate delivery conversation after you have chosen.
- How is trailer delivery priced?
- Per mile, round trip: the distance to your site multiplied by the supplier’s per-mile rate, doubled, because the trailer is delivered at the start and collected at the end. Each supplier sets their own rate.
- How is the trailer collected when the rental ends?
- If the trailer was delivered, we arrange the collection with the supplier when your rental ends, and you do not book a pickup yourself. If you chose to collect it, you return it to the supplier’s location. More on delivery and pickup.
Billing and deposits
- Are there fees that aren’t in the quote?
- Two things sit outside the quoted price and both are named before you post: tax, added at checkout where it applies, and the refundable security deposit, which is listed separately because it comes back to you. Cancellation is governed by the Neighbors Trailer Terms of Use.
- Is the deposit refunded?
- The deposit is refundable. A 3% processing fee on it is included in your total as a one-time charge, and that fee isn’t refunded. More on protection and deposits.
- Can we pay on a purchase order?
- Yes, if your company is approved for purchase-order terms. Choose them when you create your account. We review applications and email you the result, and until then you can pay by card.
- What if I need to cancel?
- Cancellation is governed by the Neighbors Trailer Terms of Use.
Business accounts
- Can my team share an account?
- Yes. An administrator can invite people as requesters, approvers or administrators, set spending limits, and mark who receives the invoices. More on business accounts.
- Can I send prices to someone for approval?
- Yes. They receive a read-only view of the comparison. They cannot act for you. You still make the choice.
Active rentals
- What am I committing to when I choose?
- A rental of 30 days or less is one booking, and you commit to the whole of it. A longer rental runs as consecutive bookings of up to 30 days each, at the monthly rate you accepted; a shorter final period’s rent is charged only for the days it covers. You commit to one period at a time, and you can end the rental after any period by telling us before it ends. Your supplier is committed for the whole rental at their price, so your rate is held.
- What if the trailer isn’t available for a later period?
- Nothing is reserved until each booking is made, and each is made shortly before its period begins. If a supplier becomes unavailable we will tell you and find a replacement where we can. If we cannot, you are not charged for that period and you can end the rental with no penalty.
